2022 was not a year without travel disruption for myself! Storms Dudley, Eunice and Franklin wreaked havoc at the start of the year. Airport and airline staff shortages caused chaos throughout the summer! This resulted in my planned trip to the tulip fields of Amsterdam being postponed for a 4th and 5th time, and my Roman holiday being cancelled! However I did manage to squeeze in last minute trips to Majorca and Paris instead!
Undoubtedly, many of my travel highlights of the year stemmed from my trip to Skiathos. I finally made it here, 3 years after booking! The Greek cuisine was (as always) fabulous, the scenery spectacular and I got to indulge my Mamma Mia obsession!

My favourite day of 2022 had to be spent aboard “Artemida“, a traditional Greek fishing boat, that took us along the southern coast of Skiathos. It was a day when everything came together in the best way… the scenery, the food and the company. I often think of this special day, it keeps me going through a Welsh winter!

A guilty pleasure of mine is the Netflix show ‘Emily in Paris’, where the city is undoubtedly the star of the show. I spent 36 hours in Paris seeking out Emily’s haunts.

I put another tick against my Bucket List when I visited the museum of legendary Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal in his hometown of Manacor, Majorca.

My favourite city is probably London. Myself and my kids love it! Each time we visit there is something different to see or do. We visited twice this year. Firstly, for my birthday in April, where we explored the Zoo and scaled the Shard. Secondly, for my Mum’s birthday in December, where we enjoyed the festivities and visited Hyde Park Winter Wonderland.

The year ended with the most magical day spent at Lapland UK.

There have been many foodie highlights this year.
In Skiathos the dish of the day was most often seafood.

I attended a Greek cooking lesson where I made traditional cheese pie.

In Paris I enjoyed Steak frites, with red wine in a traditional street cafe. As well as the world famous Ladurée macarons.

In Majorca, it was Paella washed down with a cold, crisp Rueda.

My favourite foodie spot in London is Borough Market. I literally spend hours there every time I visit!

So 2022 in a nutshell… some changes of plan but a few more ticks on the bucket list.
Happy New Year. Wishing everyone a 2023 full of foodie travel adventures x
